Mark West Pinot Noir Black

2023 Pinot Noir Black

Flavors: Black Cherry, Mocha, Caramel

Tasting Notes: Our 2023 Mark West Pinot Noir Black is a full-bodied, dark red wine. Layers of black cherry compote with accents of mocha and caramel give the wine a rich mouthfeel. The finish is long with hints of toasted vanilla.

Viticulture Notes: During the 2023 growing season cool conditions persisted throughout spring and summer, extending the time the grapes spent on the vines. As a result, the grapes developed vibrant flavor concentration.

Winemaking Notes: The fruit for this wine was harvested during the coolest hours of the morning, then destemmed and cold soaked. Following fermentation, the wine was drained, and the cap was pressed lightly to extract the most flavorful juice from just beneath the skin’s surface. Some lots were blended with a small amount of Teroldego to intensify the color and flavor. All lots completed malolactic fermentation and were aged on 100% French oak for an average of six to eight months.

Food Pairings: From BBQ spare ribs and gourmet bratwurst to jalapeno poppers and glazed sweet and spicy shrimp. View recipes.
