About
Our 2021 Mark West Pinot Noir is a classic, medium-bodied red wine grown in California’s northern and central regions. This wine brims with layers of red and dark cherry that are complemented by notes of toasted oak, brown spice and nutmeg. The mouthfeel is full and plush with a long, rewarding finish.
Viticulture Notes
The 2021 growing season in the northern region was accelerated with a heat spell in July, which resulted in early ripening. This vintage produced fruit with bright acidity and ripe fruit characteristics.
Winemaking Notes
We selected grapes for our 2021 Pinot Noir from Lodi for their characteristics of cherry and plush tannins. Zinfandel was blended with the Pinot Noir to complement the dark fruit and add notes of spice. Graciano was blended in to darken the fruit and fill in mid-palette structure. The Pinot Noir was harvested at peak ripeness to allow easy extraction of rich, concentrated color. We fermented this wine at temperatures between 86-88°F after a overnight cold soak to create intense flavor, more saturated color and velvety tannins. The wine was aged on oak post fermentation to add complexity and balance.
